About the artist:
Sheila Horne [Aka Sheila Brody aka Blackwood aka AMUKA] started out
as a back-up singer for the Brides Of Funkenstein Brides Lynn Mabry
and Dawn Silva in 1978. She became a main singer with Silva and
Jeanette McGruder in 1979 for the second Brides album Never Buy Texas
From A Cowboy and joined Rick James on tour in 1981 as an original
Mary Jane.
Sheila wrote songs for George Clinton's solo albums on Capitol in
the mid-80's and as late as 2005 she continued to tour with P-Funk
All-Stars and with George Clinton. In 1998 she moved to Italy and
released an album as the lead vocalist of the Euro-pop chart topping
group, Blackwood which went on to have the number one dance album of
1999, beating out Madonna out of the number one seat .
After her return to the US Sheila released a few soulful vinyl tools
including "E.Q" [ I am in effect for you] supported by all big
underground dj's including Danny Tenaglia who is quoted saying "What
a voice on her!!!!" . In 2003 Sheila released the crossover dance
anthem, "Appreciate Me" under the moniker AMUKA, a hit that charted
as the # 1 song for the Top 200 Dance Songs of that year on Billboard
Magazine as well the follow up "U Ain't that good" under her real
name Sheila Brody which charted number 3 on the Billboard Club Play chart.
About the Single:
AMUKA’s previous smash hit “Appreciate me” topped the Billboard Hot
200 Singles of the year & was in rotation in all Dance Radio Stations
across the U.S including WKTU who supported the record for over a
year and crossed over into the mainstream. The single was licensed
worldwide and featured in over 30 hign profile dance compilations

Including charting at number 11 and rising on the DJ TIMES Magazine
National Crossover Dance chart, and its Number 2 on billboard with a
bullet on the Club Play Chart & already featured in various
compilations most notably on Junior Vasquez's best selling Global
Groves Mixed CD on Centaur Records.
