"Utopia" is the second release from Cool Vibes Records on 2011, a collaboration between Dave Cortex (DC) and Jacob Henry (JH) under the guise of "DCJH" as catalog number - CVR015.
Hailing from Washington, DC, Dave Cortex has been DJing for over a decade and releasing tunes since 2007. As a DJ he's toured all over the US either as the headlining act or opening for BT, Roger Sanchez, Laidback Luke, Kaskade, and other top acts. As a producer he's appeared on labels like Sweet Cherry Music, Silk Royal, Nellie Recordings, and microCastle. His productions have been charted by publications like DJ Mag and Ibiza Voice, and aired on radio stations such as the UK's Kiss FM, with plenty of DJ support from the Top100.
Jacob Henry, co-owner of Silk Music Publishing and label manager of Silk Royal Records, is a Philadelphia-based DJ and producer, best known for his acclaimed weekly radio show and podcast Silk Royal Showcase. His production profile is also noteworthy, with the "Beatport Top 100 Progressive House" single Yesterday's Tears and Beatport "Top Ten Must Hear Tune" Cloak & Dagger highlighting his discography this past year. As A DJ, Jacob has played throughout the Mid-Atlantic area over the past 5 years at events with Kaskade, Markus Schulz, Tom Colontonio, Stoneface & Terminal, Activa, and numerous other leading international progressive house and trance artists.
DCJH and their debut track "Utopia" was conceived during the summer of 2010 when Jacob came down to DC for a gig and spent the rest of the weekend at Dave's studio. The goal was to write an uplifting house track that effectively blended the various signatures of both artists - Dave's quintessentially powerful low-end and anthemic lead, supported by Jacob's edgy sampling work and poignant backing melodies.
On the 'flipside' we have a banging techy progressive-house remix from Something Good that indeed is... Something Good!
