The highly anticipated collaboration with Groove Junkies and spoken word artist Louis Hale brings together the best of the GJs smooth production, energetic rhythms, and soulful vibes with the kinetic imagery, danceable lyrics, and rich voice that have become Louis’ style.
After spending many years as a spoken word artist and performing all over the country, Louis Hale began deepening his relationship with House music first through dance, then by spinning rhymes with the DJs and producers that moved his soul. This gifted poet on the rise has previously lent his talent on projects for house dons such as Miguel Migs, Deepswing, Justin Michael & Kemal, Yogi & Husky and Joshua Heath. His contribution on Josh’s “Copacetic” helped garner “Song of the Year” list kudos for 2010 on Stompy.com and his collaboration with guitarist Balage hit Traxsource’s Top 10 download. His tunes have been remixed by a stellar array of producers including Richard Earnshaw, Jay J, and Will “Reelsoul” Rodriguez to name a few.
Peggi Blu got her start singing in church at the age of three. When she was a teenager she moved to New York, where she established herself as one of the top background singers, singing with Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Bob Dylan, & others. Since those early formidable years Peggi has gone on to become the first winner of worldwide famed Star Search TV Show, star on Broadway, share the stage and sing with Barbara Streisand and tour the world many times with her successful one woman show. She’s contributed her talent to 10 Platinum selling recordings and worked with the likes of Quincy Jones, David Foster, Barbara Streisand and Bob Dylan to name a few. Most recently she was exposed to a worldwide audience with a cameo on American Idol as “The vocal coach from hell!” Needless to say we are honored to have her on this project. Additionally, the extremely talented Solara (of MoHo & Om fame) contributed her inimitable sultry vocals that serve as a perfect cherry on top.
The desire for this collaboration was conceived many moons ago and is now ready to be born into a world that needs the power of love which the Groove Junkies bring to House. Get ready to let your body walk to “Rhythm Talks”.
Mix Names / Descriptions:
GJs Deep Afro Mix – Louis’ dope spoken word takes on a different feeling amongst atmospheric pads and verbed out conga/bongo/talkin’ drum hits and fills. Solara’s homage to Grace Jones’ Slave To the Rhythm is the icing on top. As the name would imply, this one’s for the deep ‘headz.
GJs Mo’ Hump Mix – Evan uses some elements from the OG mix but adds a new drum bed, a sick acid bassline and brings a little more heat n’ drama. There’s a little mo’ junk in the trunk on this mix!
GJs Original Mix – Evan delivers a soulful / jazzy, afro laced backdrop to accompany Louis’ spot on spoken word and Peggi’s tasty bluesy vocal riffs. Classic GJ’s.
Angell Vittore & RJ Spinher Remix - Big, bouncy tech rhythms with storyline vocals. Synths that move like percussion with stabs that keep the track driving and freshly unique. Our homies from LA killed it! Prepare to shuffle your feet to this tech house beast that’s talkin’ loud n’ clear!
Christopher Wilde Downtime Remix - Afro flavored grooves and elements of soulful, smokey jazz surround the flowing vocal lines and bluesy licks. Engaging, atmospheric and uniquely CW. This man from So. Africa is def someone to watch.
