Throughout 1999 and 2000 Deep Space toured steadily through the UK and Europe. Musically we were searching for that non-specific place, the eternal, the neutral, the gentle, beyond frenzy. A heavy bass underlies a spontaneously created group music, the individual subordinated to the whole.
There are links with the trance music of Morocco or south-east Asia, and with the electric ecstasy of Miles Davis's 70s recordings. In particular his live Carnegie Hall 1974 performance on Dark Magus. Miles wrote in sleevenotes for Joe Zawinul: "In order to fit this music you have to be 'Cliché-Free'. In order to write this type of music, you have to be free inside of yourself" (quoted by David Toop in Ocean Of Sound).
