Miguel Colmenares Elastic Funk EP

Musical Missionary is back on the airwaves with a luscious release by Venezuelan producer Miguel Colmenares. Miguel is a purveyor of fine art and media as evidenced by his curated corner of the web, colectivofuturo.com. But music, deep moody music to be sure, is what fuels Miguel’s creative passion. With past releases on labels such as Auralism, Neovinyl and Pinksilver, Miguel’s music has already made its way around the globe. For the Musical Missionary cause, Miguel Colmenares has contributed three deftly sublime tech-house tracks that make up the Elastic Funk EP. The semi-title track, “Elastico”, is a deep bouncy bit laid over subdued pianos and organs with enough creative flare to keep the heads happy. Bumping the bounce up a notch, “Mono Funk” flirts with the minimal aesthetic while staying true to its self-described funky identity. And rounding out the bunch is “Ground Floor”, a Rhodes-tinged housey bit with rich layers in constant flux which keep the track feeling fresh. All in all, the Elastic Funk EP will surely satisfy even the most stubborn deep house heads among us. One last feature of the release worth noting is the stunning artwork which was graciously provided by Florida's Adrianna Auriemma-Rodriguez. Musical Missionary is a nonprofit charity and music label dedicated to providing music and arts education to underprivileged youth.
