MOHO 180 presents “STORIES OF AN ADDICT” EP
Starring Stuttering Munx, Groove Junkies & Indeya
Stuttering Munx are UK stars on the rise Tim Nice & Johnny Young. 2008 was a groundbreaking year for the guys with several original tracks being released on labels from London to Tokyo to Seattle. Their brilliant remixes for Agent Automatic, and David Amo & Julio Navas, along with their wicked interpretation of Groove Junkies “Black Man In The White House” which reached the Number 1 spot on Traxsource’s Tech House Chart capped off a banner year.
Onward to 2009 and Stuttering Munx are building on their success with their stunning debut MoHo 180 release, “Stories of An Addict” EP. The first chapter, “Addicted To The Rise,” pits Stuttering Munx against Groove Junkies, and features the incomparable Indeya (“Music’s Gotcha Jumpin’”, “Oh Lord”, “Gonna Get By”) on vocals. This unique convergence of styles has resulted in 2 lethal vocal mixes with accompanying instrumentals that are destined to do massive damage during your peak hour sets! The next chapter brings us to the deliciously wicked “Toasted Tubes”. This one is all about Stuttering Munx with 2 mixes (and useful drum tool) being offered that feature various elements of tech, house, and electro for your aural consumption. Fierce!
If you’re already hip to Stuttering Munx than you know that they are the real deal. If you’re not, than we invite you get on board and check out this amazing EP that’s destined to be positioned right at the front of your cd wallet for some time to come. Enjoy!!
“Addicted To The Rise” Deep Tech Mix
Stuttering Munx deliver a deep tech mix of epic proportion. The mix includes a full palette of SM trademark quirky synth sounds & stabs, rollin’ bass-line, and a totally unexpected ridiculous breakbeat section 2/3 of the way into the track. Tons of dynamics and drama! Groove Junkies & Indeya penned the lyrics. As usual Indeya delivers the goods with yet another stellar vocal performance. GJs on vox arrangement duties. Bangin’!
“Addicted To The Rise” Mo’ Hump Mix
SM stay on the deep techy tip but this time add a backbeat and different drum bed (thus the mix name) which ultimately gives this mix a whole different feel than the Deep Tech Mix. Plucky synths lead to a peak-time breakdown with window shattering effect! GJs change up the vocal arrangement on this version as well which also gives this mix its own unique personality. Pick your poison!
“Toasted Tubes” Johnny Young Mix
Johnny turns out a funky, afro jackin, electro tinged groove with a dominating bassline aimed strictly at the dance floor.
“Toasted Tubes” Tim Nice Way Back Mix
Like the vocal suggests it’s “time to go back” to a more, old skool house mix “the way we used to do it” but still with an up to date warm electro feel. Perfect!
